Crafting Every Sip: How Minhwa Spirits Creates Every Ingredient for Our Cocktails
At Minhwa Spirits, we believe that every detail matters when it comes to crafting exceptional cocktails. That’s why we make all of the elements that go into our drinks—from spirits and vermouths to syrups and aperitifs—right here in our distillery. Each ingredient is carefully designed to reflect the flavors and traditions of Korean and Asian heritage, offering a one-of-a-kind cocktail experience.
Syrups: The Art of Cheong
Our syrups are made using cheong, a traditional Korean method of preserving fruits and roots by fermenting them with sugar or honey. This process captures the pure, vibrant essence of the ingredients while adding depth and complexity. Whether it’s yuzu, ginger, or roasted barley, each cheong brings an authentic, handcrafted touch to our cocktails.
Stay tuned for a deep dive into cheong and how it transforms our drinks!
Redefining Aperitifs and Vermouths
Our cocktail program also showcases our dedication to reimagining classic aperitifs and vermouths with Korean-inspired twists:
- Hibiscus Aperitivo: We’ve created our version of Campari or Aperol using hibiscus, Korea’s national flower, as the star ingredient. Hibiscus not only provides a naturally stunning color but also imparts tart, floral notes that pair beautifully with our custom blend of botanicals. Unlike commercial aperitifs, we rely on natural ingredients—no artificial food coloring here!
- Perilla Aperitivo: Perilla, a herb widely used in Korean cuisine, forms the base of our unique aperitivo. Earthy and aromatic, this aperitif lends a distinctive depth to cocktails while staying true to our heritage.
- Custom Vermouths: We craft our vermouths in-house, infusing them with flavors like green tea, roasted sesame, and jujube for an unmistakably Asian twist on this classic cocktail staple.
The Minhwa Cocktail Experience
These house-made ingredients are the foundation of our bespoke cocktails, each one designed to tell a story through flavor. Imagine sipping a hibiscus-infused twist on the Negroni or enjoying an Old Fashioned enhanced with cheong-based syrup and perilla aperitivo. Every cocktail is a reflection of our dedication to quality and our connection to Korean culture.
By controlling every aspect of what goes into our drinks, we ensure that every sip is as authentic, fresh, and innovative as possible.
